Fireworks, yellow and orange.

TV static dancing across the screen. Every sign and chant lost,

a relic of radio waves.

Fireworks, yellow and orange.

A shooting star of striped cloth. Oak podiums and gray garments: domestic-made masks of freedom

Fireworks, yellow and orange.

A city of houses torn apart.

A smoke screen floating into the living room; and a mute button to stop the noise.

Fireworks, red, white and blue.

The camouflage of patriotism and anonymity. Another war, another fatality,

another sidebar on the morning news.
